Miles' CT Scan

Miles had his CT Scan review with our local doctor yesterday. All went well. He is a good candidate for surgery, but that is all according to the Otologist we see here in Tampa. We are actually looking at using a surgeon out in CA and his review is very important to us. I am sending a copy of the CT to him and the doctor already forwarded his report. So within a week we should know more. It's just good to know that our doctor felt that his internal ear structures made him a great candidate. They are rated on a special scale out of 10 with 6 or lower typically not being operable. Miles was a 9 in both ears. The one point subtracted was due to external ear structures(the ear itself) being malformed. So within a week or so we have to start making some very crucial decisions for Miles' future. Obviously the first thing will be to decide what it is we are doing, but more importantly to get started in working with the insurance company to find out what we can get covered and what we will have to pay for. Unless we happen to find $200,000 growing on a tree in our yard, this will be the hardest part of the next few years. We've already heard the horror stories about insurance and this type of surgery, so we can hardly wait to get started.
