Busch Gardens

Today was one of the most beautiful days we have had in a very long time. We decided to take the kids back to Busch Gardens to take advantage of our season passes. Unfortunately we were trying to go for the opening of the Sesame Street attraction, and we were one weekend too early. We wanted to see some of the shows we missed last time.

The first place we stopped was Katonga. A musical show about African folklore and storytelling. You know your 6 month old watches too much TV when she can sit and pay attention to a whole forty minute show. I'd like to say this is a good thing and in a way it was, since she was quiet and didn't bother anyone, but the fact that she has that kind of attention span is a little scary. I guess we should spend a little less time with the TV on at home but she really does love those Wonder Pets.

Miles rode the flume ride for the first time and came off with a big grin. He was also finally big enough for the rapids ride and both him and Chris came off soaked. He wasn't smiling quite as much after that one. Luckily I always pack an extra set of clothes for the kids and we were able to get him dry and happy as quickly as possible. Avery pooped herself while waiting for Miles, so she got a change of clothes too. Glad those were the only extra sets we needed today. Chris just walked around wet. It will teach him to not question me when I tell him Miles needs a change of clothes!! Maybe he will learn by example.

Miles had a great time again, and I think it will just become more enjoyable for all of us the older he gets. It will also be nice when we don't have to listen to Avery scream all the way home because she doesn't like the car in the dark. We are all so tired. I think it is going to be an early night for us all.

Update

I had a second to post a quick update: We have all been very busy. I would like to think it is the time of the year, but I think it is just part of having kids. Miles has been very busy with school lately. They are learning to read at Long Leaf and both schools are starting name writing. He has learned the days of the week and has worked on the months of the year. He really likes singing and walks around reciting any song he has just learned or can't get out of his head. Sometimes we hear the same song over and over again for weeks at a time, but you know he won't forget them. (Neither will we!) Miles got a new swing set for the backyard, and spends every warm afternoon outside swinging and climbing. We have season passes to Busch Gardens and he is now at a great age to enjoy it. Hopefully we will have some nice spring weekends coming our way so we can take advantage of the passes.

Avery is now pretty good at sitting up and is starting to crawl. She has gotten the hang of the army crawl(creeping), but is still up on her knees, rocking, and not actually going anywhere in the standard crawl. She does get where she needs to go, whether it is on her belly or by rolling. Now that she is mobile, you can't stop her. It's almost time for the baby gates. She still only has two teeth, but should have her top ones here any day. She is really miserable again, so you know they are coming. She started solids about a week ago. She really likes sweet potatoes, carrots and bananas, but is not fond of applesauce or juice yet. We usually mix in some rice cereal or oatmeal which smells nasty, but doesn't seem to bother her. She is just so happy to be eating "table" food. She smiles the whole time she is at the table and waits with an open mouth for someone to put something in. She's our little bird.

I am out of time and off to do laundry before dinner. Somehow I always have so much kids laundry that my own starts to pile up. I imagine this is what I look like to the rest of the world sometimes:

Happy St. Patty's Day
