Miles Mohawk

Miles got his first mohawk. It's only temporary, but Chris wanted him to have one, so we will wait until daddy comes home to see it and then we will shave it off. We have struggled with Miles bad hair since he started getting it. Everyone keeps telling us to shave his head and it will grow in better, so I finally got around to buying the clippers. With plenty of toys on the high chair tray, he was very patient and let me shave a little crooked mohawk on him. Unfortunately he doesn't really have enough hair to make it cute, and having the hearing aid band around his head isn't a great look. It kind of looks like a bad carpet held on by a funny rubber band. It was worth the try, though. Miles got to play in the bath after and that made it all worth it for him.

15 Month Check-Up

Miles had his doctor's appointment today. All went well. He got one shot that he was less than thrilled with, but made up for it with a cool firetruck sticker. The doc said all looks good and to keep up what we've been doing. Somehow Miles managed to get a lot taller and not gain any weight. He went from the 75th percentile in height to the 85th percentile, which is quite tall coming from his vertically challenged parents and he went from the 15th percentile in weight to the 10th. He gained less than a pound in more than three months but grew almost 2 and a half inches. The doctor said this is normal for boys and they will stair step their weight and height most of their childhood. His suggestion was to add more fat and calories to Miles' diet: "Try putting melted butter over his vegetables to give him an extra source of fat and maybe he'll eat more." Don't you wish doctors regularly gave this advice to us "adults"....I do!

Wet and Wild

Miles got his first pool this weekend. Daddy is out-of-town and we needed to find a new adventure. Also I am hoping that playing in this pool will be a better transition to the big pool in our neighborhood. The water was a little chilly even though we added hot from the tap. He only sat in it and played about two or three times. Mostly he got in, walked around, and then got out to go get rocks. Throwing rocks in the pool and then fetching them was the highlight of the morning. It was really warm out, so being outside of the water and wet wasn't that bad. He didn't even seem to notice. Miles had such a good time, when we came inside to have lunch he fell asleep in his highchair.

Getting ready to go in

Testing the waters

Checking out the patio

What pretty plastic flowers

Something is missing....

In go the rocks

Mommy said "That's enough rocks in the pool"

Which translates into "Go get a lot more!"

Up, Up and Away...

We went to Red Robin this weekend for dinner. It is a very family friendly restaurant with balloons in the lobby for kids to take home. They get to pick whichever color they prefer and take it home as a parting gift. We told Miles if he was a good boy during dinner, we would let him have a balloon. He really wasn't interested in our food, so he spent the entire meal coloring and pointing randomly at all the balloons on the ceiling of the restaurant. He was so excited to finally have his prize, that he pitched a fit in the parking lot while I held the balloon and Chris put him in his car seat. It's all fun and games until you try to take the toy away from the baby:

Uh Oh.......

He never realized the balloon was tied to his pants the whole time!

Bye, Bye, Daddy!

Have a good trip. Mommy and I will miss you! Hugs and Kisses - Miles
