Miles' Graduation

Miles had his Pre-K speech graduation this week. All of the kids except four are five years old and are graduating preschool to kindergarten. They had on little graduation caps and gowns and got diplomas. Miles and three other little boys are still four and have another year of preschool, but they are graduating from the speech program at the elementary school, so they got recognition certificates and the teachers each called them up to receive them. They didn't get to wear the caps and gowns but they still got to be a part of the ceremony.

Miles class - You can't see him, but he's in the back sitting down - The teacher on the left is Ms. Janice - speech pathologist - The teacher on the right with the kids is Ms. Jenny the pre-k teacher - The teaching assistant is in the back right corner standing up - Ms. Senada

It was a great class. The teachers have been with these kids for two years and were very emotional to let them go. All of Miles' teachers at both schools have been wonderful, but his "talk program" teachers will always be very special to Chris and I for all they have done for Miles this year. They are a fabulous group of ladies.

Happy Memorial Day

Baby Steps

Avery stood by herself for the first time on the 24th of May and took her first big girl steps yesterday. She took five steps from the ottoman to the couch all by herself and then did it again a few minutes later. She is still crawling as her main mode of transportation, but she now has enough confidence to take the first few steps that make her unfortunately more mobile.

I was much more excited about this with Miles, because I didn't know any better. But this time around, I know what kind of a challenge it is going to be. Avery is a tough cookie and definitely does what she wants to "only" when she wants, so there is no stopping her now. She is already developing a pint size attitude. It is adorably cute when she screeches and screams when she doesn't get her way, but we are brewing a terrible habit by doing things to upset her just for a laugh. It's just so funny to see an 8 1/2 month old have so much personality, know exactly what she wants and know how to get it. We are going to be IN FOR IT!!!
