Christmas Festivities

The day after Christmas we went down to the beach. There was a cool breeze, but the sun was warm. The chilly day didn't stop the tourists from swimming in the ocean or catching a few rays.

All dressed up for Christmas day

A surprise visit from Auntie Steff for Lola and Lolo

Getting all of the presents out

Opening gifts

A nice Christmas dinner out by the pool, more importantly during nap time

A quick after dinner nap

Chris and I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone, family and friends, for all of the gifts for Miles this year. He had a blast opening all the gifts and was sure to finish opening all the presents before he started playing with any of them. He was on sensory overload, but managed to take a nice long nap. We are still all recovering from so many new toys. He doesn't know what to play first when he wakes up. Thanks again this was a great Christmas for him.

Florida Aquarium

Today we went to the Florida Aquarium. This picture was taken right when we walked in. Miles' expression here set the tone for his behavior for the rest of the day.....all I can say is, I think the grandparents had a good time. Chris and I are spent!

Finally!!!

We went to Citrus Park Mall the other day to do some last minute Christmas shopping and after a lot of coaxing, we were able to get Miles to finally sit with Santa. He was very excited about the cookies Santa was passing out.

If you look closely, Santa is holding Miles' Matchbox car in his right hand. Santa's affinity with Matchbox immediately put him in good with yours truly and picture history was made.

We weren't prepared with a nice Christmas outfit and the shorts he's wearing look like plaid diapers from being pushed up so high, but he's smiling while sitting on a strange lap. I guess we'll take what we can get.

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was Nana's birthday and we went for a nice birthday lunch at Bahama Breeze. It was a beautiful day so we were able to eat outside. Lolo took some nice pictures and we ate some really tasty food. After, we came back to our house and sang Happy Birthday and ate cheesecake. Happy Birthday, Nana!

The Bed That Miles Built

This is a "Miles original creation". We got the box that one of his Christmas presents arrived in and put it out in the family room for him to play with. He went and got the blanket and all the pillows to fill it with and made a nice little bed to watch TV in. It actually looked pretty comfortable. Our son is either a genius or extremely skilled at how to be lazy. I'm going to go with the latter, based solely on his genes.

101 Uses For A Potty.........

.......or at least four:

A Hat

A TV seat

A TV stand

Both a seat and a hat.....

Bet you didn't know there were so many uses for a potty, none of which actually involve going potty. Who'd of guessed it?
(FYI: The potty has yet to be used for real.)

Cute Hat

I have to admit that I am only posting this sad little video, because I have nothing else to post. We have not taken any pictures as of late. (I guess the novelty is finally wearing off.) I managed to shoot this small clip the other day when "speed racer" was taking a few practice laps, but it is considered a special video because of the hat alone.

Our Colorado neighbors, Ja and Doug Brennan, bought him numerous gifts over the years, but Miles favorite has always been this cute elephant hat. It was too big for him when he first got it, but now it fits him on the smallest setting. He absolutely loves it. It's his "ella" hat and he will go into his closet to get it whenever he is moved to wear it.

At the end of the video he rides the car under my legs and the hat falls off......this was a big "uh-oh!"

Breakfast with Santa Day!

On Saturday, Nana invited us to breakfast with Santa. After breakfast we went downstairs at the event to see the Parade of Trees. Mid afternoon we headed back to Nana's to help her set up her tree and get out some of the Xmas decorations. Miles played all day and even went down for a little nap. When he woke up he felt a bit warm. By the time we got home he was feverish. We drew him a bath and gave some Motrin. Like the trooper he is, he bounced back and started playing again. About three hours later the fever returned and we put in a call to the doctor. She suggested a trip to the after hours clinic. So we packed up our sick baby and headed out for a "fun" Saturday night.

By the time we reached the clinic he was burning up. They took his temp and said it was 105. Being the calm and rational first time parents that we are, naturally we freaked out. The doctors gave him some more Motrin and an antibiotic and told us he'd be better in an hour. Meanwhile they swabbed his throat for Strep and spent the next half hour reassuring us that he would be fine. Just as they had said, a half an hour later he had bounced back and was all smiles. We left the clinic at almost 1am and headed home to put our sick baby to bed. Today he woke up slightly feverish, but after another dose of Motrin and antibiotic, he has continued to play the day away, courtesy of Mommy and the new Nerf basketball hoop she bought him while waiting at the pharmacy this morning. According to Miles and his basketball, it has been "the best day ever". Mommy and Daddy have grown a few more gray hairs to add to their collection and are just happy he's feeling better.

Here are a few pics from our great day:

Waiting for pancakes

He's only stubborn looking when you want him to do something (so he never looks like this, right?)

If he could have crawled inside Nana's head to get away from Santa he would have

These were all from the Parade of Trees or as Miles would have called it, "the room where I am not supposed to touch anything, but will try to touch everything":

Daddy's favorite tree made of "beer"

Nana wanted to do some shopping and Mommy was "done" chasing Miles so we walked over to the park across the street and Daddy took some more pictures:
