Disney Christmas November 2012

Miles had his National Chess Tournament in Orlando this year. In between rounds we managed to squeeze in some time at Disney. We all had a great time.

Happy Thanksgiving

Miles' 2nd Chess Tournament

Miles had his 2nd chess tournament this weekend. It was at a private school in Tampa call Berkeley Preparatory. It was only a one day event this time. He played four rounds. 

The last tournament he had, he played 6 rounds. He did pretty well for his first tournament. They only gave trophies to the top 15 and Miles squeaked in at 15th place. This tournament he did much better and came all the way up to 5th this time. We were very proud of him. His chess tutor says he is on target for Nationals in Orlando in a couple of weeks. 

Miles is still very excited about playing and has a good time at the tournaments. He seems to be making some good friends too. Not to mention how much he likes winning the trophies.........

Miles' Class Trip to the Aquarium

Miles and his class went to the Clearwater Aquarium to see the Dolphin named "Winter" who was just recently in a big screen movie about her rescue. I chaperoned and had Miles and two other boys as my group. They had lunch, saw some animal demonstrations and then had free time to explore. They had too much time for such a small aquarium and got quite bored at the end, but before that, they really had a good time and learned a lot.

Avery's PreK Thanksgiving Feast

Avery had her Thanksgiving feast at school. They made their shirts, hats and place mats. They also made their ice cream cone tee-pees.

Halloween Festivities

Avery missed the week before and we didn't know that it was costume week at ballet/tap, but she didn't seem to mind. They learned a little dance and had lots of cookies and candy:
