Big Shoes To Fill

Great Deal

This morning my husband's shopping guru from work, notified him of a Target sale for 75% off of some of their toys. She passes along the good word often, but store super sales are not generally my scene. This time I decided to brave the "crazies" to go down and check it out. It was such an unbelievable sight to see women, old and young, with 2-3 shopping carts loaded with toys in duplicate and triplicate. We browsed a few aisles and ended up making a good deal for Miles. I got about $160 worth of toys for under $40......can't beat that. I'm not a big "sale" finder, in fact I usually kick myself for missing them, but with a birthday coming up here shortly after Christmas, I couldn't pass it up. Miles will now also being playing the drums for his birthday amidst other discounted things. This Mr. Potato Head Box/Hat- Spiderman Edition ($10 on sale for $2.50) was supposed to be a consolation prize for us hiding the other toys as soon as they came in the door, even though Miles beat on the drum through the little cellophane window of its box all the way home. He'll have forgotten all about it by February...hopefully!

Big Boy Bed

Miles is finally in a big boy bed. Today his Uncle Bryan came over and helped us convert his crib to a toddler bed. Which basically involves taking one side of the crib railing off and putting a mattress support in its place. It's kind of like a little day bed now. Anyway, I had lost some of the hardware to make the change, so he was able to fix it for us without the parts. We had it all put together for nap time today, so when it was time for Miles to go down, I had him crawl into the bed on his own. Of Course the obvious happened. Miles ran right out of his room and headed for Uncle Bryan in the family room. On the second attempt, Uncle Bryan brought him into bed and as Miles went to get up and leave again, we beat him out and I closed and locked the door. Miles cried at the door for about 10 minutes and then went to play with the toys he had in his room. We could hear him playing for about 20 more minutes and then it got quiet. I went to check and he had crawled into bed and was sound asleep. It was too precious! He's such a big boy now.

We are starting this process because his birthday present from us will be a fire engine bed for his second birthday in a month and a half. So before we go through all the trouble of buying it and setting it up we want to see if getting him to sleep in a toddler bed is even doable yet. When it was time for him to get up from his nap, I opened his door and a few minutes later a smiling, sleepy eyed, little boy came wandering around the corner and crawled into my lap. I am happy he still thinks he's my little baby.
