A few more recent pictures

Avery had her first dance recital for her ballet/tap class. It was a winter showcase, so even though it was after the holidays, a lot of the songs were still Christmas related. Avery's class did a tap number to Marshmallow World and they wore white leos and tights with black tutus. The summer recital uses preordered costumes, but the winter one just has the parents follow the costume guidelines and pick up their own. Avery was still super excited about it. She did a good job although forgetting just a few parts and being a bit shy right off the start, but being one of the older kids in her class, she remember most of the choreography and seemed to look like she knew what was going on. I would love to say she was perfectly at home on the stage, but I think it will take a few times before she feels comfortable enough to really come out of her shell. She didn't mention being nervous after and couldn't wait to do it again....always a good sign.

Avery with her teacher, Miss Sarah:

Back to San Antonio for surgery number 3. This stage was supposed to be on the second ear. It should have been the earlobe relocation and the removal of his microtic ear on top of the cartilage the doctor put in last time, but he decided to tweak some stuff on the first ear as well which went from a 1.5 hour surgery to a 3.5 hour surgery. Although the whole surgery process hasn't gotten any easier on any of us as we've gone along, the recovery for this one has been a lot quicker. Much relieved to be done with the rib part of the surgeries. We are a week out of surgery today and I will try to update some pictures as soon as I can take some. The stitches will remain in for another week, but outside of the antibiotic which Miles will remain on for another three days, he is back to normal and back to full day school.

Waiting for Miles is very tiring:

This surgery was outpatient, so we got to go back to the hotel a few hours after surgery. Recovery room having juice:

Sunset back at the hotel:

Two days after surgery:

Five days after - still quite a bit of swelling, especially on the left ear and redness on that one as well, but everyday it gets a little bit more defined. Dr. Bonilla likes to save extra cartilage he might need for the next surgery in the earlobe, so the earlobe on the left ear appears extra long. This will be shortened to match the right side in the next stage:

Through all this Miles has managed straight A's again. Couldn't be more proud!!

Yes, apparently Houston gets snow. We hate it but the kids were so excited:
