Update on Miles

We are still suffering through this horrible illness with Miles. From my previous post, this has been going on since last Friday and we are on day four of fevers between 105 and 106. I did give him a bath today and that seemed to help for a few hours, but the temp is back just as high tonight. We took him to the ER yesterday evening and spent four hours there for them to tell us that it is just a virus and there is nothing to do but wait it out. I haven't slept in three nights and Chris probably in 2. I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions all evening, probably more than I should, due to stress and lack of sleep. Miles plays when he feel okay, which is rare now, but mostly just lays on the couch, burns up and dozes on and off between children's tv shows. They forced Motrin in him at the ER yesterday, but most of it went on his face, so it didn't do much. They ran blood work, did a chest xray and exam, and found nothing. It is the same story as we've heard before: "Some kids just run really high fevers." I just wish it didn't have to be our kid and if so why for so long? We are all just exhausted and since this has been going on since last Friday Miles is "over" taking medicine. I can't get a stitch in him, not in juice, candy, or in food, which he is not eating anymore, and not in any form. I have single handedly been contributing to the large Walgreens profit margine in drug purchases alone. I have also bought every form of juice and candy possible to try and sneak it in, but as of Wed. morning he was done. So now all we can do is watch him be miserable and run fevers until this passes, which better be soon, but knowing his illness pattern history, probably won't be. Keep good thoughts out there for him to get better soon. We need all the help we can get.

More Belated Disney

Two more pics that we ordered from our trip to Disney. These were taken by the photographers there and put online to purchase for a measly million dollars each. These are two of Miles' favorite movies:

Miles and Lightening McQueen
from Cars

Miles with Buzz Lightyear and Woody
from Toy Story

Summer Sickness

When Miles gets sick, it just drags on forever. He started not feeling well on Thursday and by Friday afternoon he had a temperature that carried through Saturday. I called the oncall pediatrician and he prescribed some antibiotics. Sunday and Monday proved uneventful as we even managed to get out of the house to do our grocery shopping. This is quite the accomplishment considering it is 95 degrees every day and too hot to leave unless it is absolutely necessary. By Tuesday he had a fever again, so I took him back to the doctor. She had two thoughts about his illness: either he had a virus that was just dragging along and would take time to get rid of or he had some sort of sinus infection that was resistent to the amoxicillin. So to be on the safe side she prescribed a stronger antibiotic and told me to start it on Wednesday if things hadn't gotten a little better. Well of course he was still feverish last night, but played like he was fine, so I didn't give him any Tylenol and he woke up warm running about a 99-100 degree low grade fever. He wants to play and has actually eaten, so I am just leaving him alone, but this thing does not want to go away. I cancelled play dates for today and tomorrow and will remain housebound until the weekend at least. This has been an incredibly stressful week with the garage sale, the dog sitting I've been doing for three weeks coming to an end (FINALLY!!), being pregnant in the heat, and now the illness that won't go away and the lack of sleep that goes with it. Sometimes I wonder how we were crazy enough to want to this all again with another kid. Maybe this one will be the easy one....LOL!!!!
