More Boo Boo's

Miles is somewhat gifted athletically, most of the time, at least we like to think so. He picks up physical skills very quickly and is a big climber......of everything. Last night our worst fears were imagined when he took a tumble off of the back of the couch onto the tile floor face first. After we were sure there were no serious injuries, we had a big cuddle and in a few minutes he seemed fine. His nose is still a little swollen and the giant red mark on his forehead seems to have faded away, so he's lucky that it is not as disfiguring as usual.

I tried not to overreact and call the doctor or rush out to Emergicare even though with head injuries, you never know, but we continued to keep a close eye on him all night. I do know that since Miles is a fearless, thrill-seeker, that this is only one of many such incidences and I have to start growing a thicker skin before I end up in a padded room, heavily medicated, which is probably inevitable anyway. I sure hope that if more children are in our future the next one is his polar opposite or my trip to the loony bin will be sooner rather than later.

Miles doesn't usually cry unless he is really hurt and there were quite a few crocodile sized tears at this pity party, but in the end, I think we were a little more shaken up than he was and we still don't know from what part of his face the blood on my shirt came from.

The pictures don't do the fall justice:
